About NPS/UPS Calculator for VRS Cases

This calculator helps you compare NPS (National Pension System) and UPS (Unified Pension Scheme) benefits for Voluntary Retirement (VRS) cases with specific VRS rules. The calculator validates that VRS date is at least 20 years after joining service and calculates benefits based on VRS-specific rules.

VRS-Specific Rules:

  • VRS date must be at least 20 years after joining government service
  • Contributions stop at VRS date (no further NPS contributions)
  • All benefits (monthly pension/annuity, withdrawal, bonus) are payable from the following month after attaining regular retirement age
  • UPS calculations are based on last 12 months basic salary prior to VRS date
  • NPS calculations are based on corpus as on date of attaining regular retirement age
  • Dearness Allowance is projected to regular retirement age for UPS calculations

NPV (Net Present Value) Calculations: The NPV columns show the present value of future benefits discounted at the expected inflation rate. Lump sum amounts are discounted from regular retirement date. For the "Monthly Pension / Annuity" row, the NPV shows the present value of the first month's pension/annuity payment (discounted from regular retirement date). For the "Pension/Annuity in Retirement Phase" row, the NPV shows the total present value of all pension/annuity payments over the retirement period. This helps you understand the value of your retirement benefits in today's terms.
